Introducing the New ATO Chapter
On the 3rd of May, 2008 Wynn Smiley, Alpha Tau Omega CEO, assisted by Pat Brown, Former Alpha Tau Omega National President, reinstated the charter of the Gamma Iota chapter of Alpha Tau Omega.
The ceremony was a happy and heartfelt occasion for those new members who were initiated, and a proud one for the alumni who were there to watch. Forty Two new members of ATO were sworn in.
The new members also thanked the alumni who helped get them to rechartering, along with those who helped provide them an amazing new chapter house. That new house was the reason many of the brothers were willing to stick out the hard times of recolonization. It is all our alumni that can take the credit for that, without them, the new house would not be there. Congratulations all, we did it!
The majority of brothers will move in to the house this fall. Unfortunately it is not quite ready for them. While the $100,000 donated so far has gone along way in helping fund the almost $1 million cost of the renovation, it was not enough to pay for some of the final parts of the project.
As you may know, among other needed repairs the downstairs living room lacks furniture, the exterior of the house was never landscaped, and most importantly, the roof deck has not been replaced.
You all know that these are some of the most important aspects of ATO. This is why we are launching the a final phase of the Gamma Iota Capital Campaign. "The Final 50" is the chance for all those of you who were holding back to step up and give. Some said it could not be done, 100 of our brothers have helped prove that wrong. Join them.
